Russian regions will get 5 bln rubles in add'l state support
ASTRAKHAN. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The Russian government has determined the list of regions that will get an additional 5 billion rubles in state support this year.
"There are 66 such regions, of which three are in the Southern Federal District," First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov at a Tuesday meeting chaired by the Russian presidential envoy to that district in Astrakhan.
The monies are intended for regions where cattle herds have contracted, Zubkov said. Farms with all types of ownership will receive money, he said.
"We will not delay these funds and will settle accounts with the regions in February," Zubkov said.
Russia's state-support program for agriculture is slated to get 125 billion rubles this year, Zubkov said. An additional 1 billion rubles will go to both the acquisition of seed and to buying mineral fertilizers. Crop insurance will get 5 billion rubles, which is twice as much as last year.
