Southwest Power Grid to increase Eastern, Southern China power sales 9-fold by 2015
Shanghai. February 14. INTERFAX-CHINA - Southwest Power Grid Co. Ltd (SPGC) plans to increase sales of power to eastern and southern China to 55.81 million kW by the end of 2015, the company announced Feb. 14.
SPGC manages the power grid network in China's Ningxia Hui and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regions, and the provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai.
It currently sells approximately 6.11 million kW of installed power capacity to eastern and southern China each year.
China's southwest holds over half of the nation's total coal reserves and is home to one third of the country's potential wind power development areas. SPCG aims to take advantage of the resources available and expand sales of its surplus power output to other parts of China in the next five years.
