MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Russian insurance companies collected 1.041 trillion rubles in premiums in 2010, 6.5% more than in 2009, Federal Insurance Service chief Alexander Koval told journalists on Wednesday.
The insurers paid 768.59 billion rubles in benefits last year, 4.4% more.
"The Federal Insurance Service's forecasts were fairly accurate. The bulk of the growth came on personal insurance lines (up 20%), auto liability insurance (OSAGO) (up 7%) and life insurance (up 37%)," he said.
