Rusal should accept Nornickel's offer - Prokhorov

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The offer by Norilsk Nickel to buy 20% of its shares from RusAl for $12.8 billion is profitable, and the Onexim group will support it, said Mikhail Prokhorov, a minority shareholder in the aluminum company.

"I think RusAl will benefit from accepting the offer to sell 20% shares in Nornickel. Obviously the situation is in a deadlock, and one of the parties should make an exit decision. I believe that the $12.8 billion price offered with the market premium corresponds to the fair package value," Prokhorov was quoted as saying in an Onexim statement.

"The sale of these shares will allow to significantly lower RusAl's debt burden and raise the value of the company's shares. Onexim is set to back this offer," Prokhorov said.
