Heilongjiang Province firms up position as major energy base
Shanghai. February 17. INTERFAX-CHINA - Heilongjiang Province maintained its position as a major energy base in northeast China, expanding its coal, crude oil and electricity output in 2010, according to statistics released by the Heilongjiang provincial government on Feb. 16.
Heilongjiang boosted coal output by 5.7 percent year-on-year to 97.06 million tons, while electricity output rose by 8.0 percent year-on-year to 79.05 billion kWh in 2010, the statistics indicate.
In the same year, Heilongjiang sold 5.25 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of surplus electricity to other parts of China.
According to the statistics, the province's crude oil output grew 0.1 percent year-on-year to 40.05 million tons while its natural gas output remained stable at 3 billion cubic meters last year.
