13 bln rubles stolen from Bank of Moscow transferred to Baturina's personal account - Interior Ministry
MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Money to the amount of 13 billion rubles obtained in a fraudulent way as a loan from Bank of Moscow was later transferred to a personal account of Yelena Baturina, the wife of former Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, the Russian Interior Ministry's Investigative Committee told Interfax.
"A number of unidentified employees of Bank of Moscow, along with employees of Premier Estate, acquired about 13 billion rubles in a fraudulent way in the form of a loan to replenish the latter firm's floating funds," the committee said.
"However, the money received on this loan was later transferred to Yelena Nikolayevna Baturina's personal account," it said.
The investigation is currently checking the theory that money from Moscow's budget was used to finance Premier Estate, it said.
