Unemployment in Russia jumps again in Jan to 7.6% - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Unemployment in Russia jumped another 0.4 percentage points to 7.6% from 7.2% in January, after rising 0.5 pp in December, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Rosstat said there were 5.709 million jobless people at the end of January 2011, 317,000 more than at the end of December 2010 but 1.1 million (16.4%) fewer than in January last year.

Unemployment in the crisis period peaked at 7.056 million in February 2009.

Russia had 1.609 million registered unemployed at the end of January 2011, 20,000 more than at the end of December 2010.
