Alrosa plans to boost diamond production to 39.6 mln carats a year by 2018
MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Russian diamond monopoly Alrosa will boost diamond production to 39.6 million carats a year by 2018, 21% more than in 2009, according to the company strategy approved by the management board on Monday.
Total sales in the period are forecast at about $35 billion, Alrosa said in a statement.
Alrosa will spend 25.594 billion rubles on geological exploration in 2011-2018. Net profits will amount to 93.87 billion rubles.
