Russian Econ Ministry says bourse the best way to sell grain
MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Economic Development Ministry thinks it would be more effective to sell grain on the exchanges than to distribute it.
"Our ministry's position is that trading it on the exchanges is more effective," Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina told reporters.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the government to analyze two methods of selling grain -bourses and distribution - in a bid to hold or lower grain prices.
"The issue is still being discussed," Economic Development Minister Nabiullina said.
Asked whether a planned 2 million tonnes of grain would be distributed among the regions, she said "we think exchanges are more effective."
