Bushehr NPP launch problem purely technological - Lavrov
GENEVA. March 1 (Interfax) - Problems hampering the launch of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran are purely technological and can be resolved within the next two or three months, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists in Geneva on Tuesday.
"As far as Bushehr is concerned, its problem is purely technological," he said.
"The essence of the problem is to guarantee the 100% safety of the reactor," Lavrov said.
"I think that this issue will be dealt with in two or three months. Iranian specialists are perfectly aware of what I am talking about," the Russian minister said.
"When we agreed to rebuild the plant, the construction of which was launched by German specialists, the Iranian side insisted on partially using German equipment," he said.
"The equipment that was installed there more than 30 years ago requires additional preventive measures in the current situation," Lavrov said.
