MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planning to visit to Russia in the second half of March to attend a high-level meeting of the Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council.

"The visit by the Turkish prime minister to Russia is scheduled for the second half of March," a diplomatic source told journalists in Moscow.

The Council meeting will focus on issues such as bilateral economic cooperation, cooperation in the energy and fuel and transport sectors, as well as infrastructure projects, the said.

"These consultations gain particular importance in light of the shared economic interests of Russia and Turkey in the Middle East," as well as the two countries' policies aimed at closer cooperation with the European Union, he said.

Similar mechanisms of high-level cooperation are employed by Russia with two other countries, Germany and Italy, he said.
