Russia alarmed by rising prices for energy - Peskov

MOSCOW. March 9 (Interfax) - Russia has been alarmed by the current developments in the Middle East and by their impact on prices for energy, the Russian prime minister's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, has said.

Prices above a certain mark are bad for the Russian economy and for the plans to modernize the country and enhance the productivity, Peskov said in an interview with the Russia Today television channel. Everything turns out too cheap, almost for nothing, he said. Therefore, we have been following with anxiety what is happening in the Middle East, Peskov said.

Russia is not interested in inflated prices for energy resources, but, on the contrary, is interested in reasonable prices, reflecting the actual worth of energy, he said. The actual worth is high enough, but not that high, he said in remarks about forecasts that the price of oil could go up to $140 per barrel.
