Suzuki has no plans to revise vehicle import and sales plans for Russia

MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Japanese concern Suzuki does not intend to revise its plans for delivering and selling vehicles n Russia in light of the difficult situation in Japan after Friday's devastating earthquake.

"The plans for supply and sale [of vehicles] in Russia remain unchanged," the company said in a statement.

Suzuki said that the impact of Friday's devastating earthquake would have on the company's automotive industry is yet unclear. However, Suzuki said that none of its employees were among the casualties and no production facilities or administrative offices had been damaged since they are located outside of the disaster zone.

Nonetheless, Suzuki suspended operations at all of its plants in Japan from March 14 to 16 for reasons of safety. "Plans to renew production on March 17 will be decided after an assessment of the situation," the company said.

Suzuki sold 28,700 cars in Russia in 2010, which was a 13% increase from 2009.
