Foundation pit of Belarusian NPP to be dug starting from September 2011
MINSK. March 17 (Interfax) - A foundation pit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be dug starting from September 2011, the St. Petersburg Atomenergoproyekt institute, a component of the Rosatom state corporation, said.
"The digging of the foundation pit on the Ostrovetskaya site in the Grodno region in September 2011," says the institute report received by Interfax.
The first nuclear power plant in Belarus will be build by the NPP-2006 project of Atomenergoproyekt. It will have two units with the total capacity of up to 2,400 megawatts. The first unit will be started up in 2017, and the other in 2018.
Atomstroyexport confirmed the deadlines earlier.
