TransContainer hopes to start up regulator deliveries to Hyundia's plant in Russia

MOSCOW. March 17 ((Interfax) - OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) container transport subsidiary, OJSC TransContainer, hopes to start up regular deliveries of automotive components to Hyundia's plant outside of St. Petersburg, the operator said.

The company's container cars from the Port of Busan delivered 50 TEU of freight for the company at Shushary station (St. Petersburg) in the first part of March.

The railway service takes almost half the time of seaway transport (17 days compared to 30-35 days) partially thanks to a quicker transport schedule throughout Russia from the Nakhodka-Vostochnaya Station.

The company said that it plans to attract Japanese automaker with plants in the Northwestern automotive cluster into the transport project.

TransContainer operates heavy-tonnage containers and fitting platforms for transporting cargo, as well as a network of terminals in Russia and Slovakia. The group's IFRS net profit in 2009 came to 589.6 million rubles from sales revenue totaling 16.4 billion rubles and for the first half of 2010 - 197 million rubles from 9.942 billion rubles, respectively. RZD owns 50% plus one share in the operator, FESCO - 12.5%, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - 9.25% and free-float - 16.63%.
