Dollar moves down slightly on the MICEX, euro increases
MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar closed trading on Thursday on the MICEX with minor losses while the euro increased substantially owing to its rising position on the Forex market. The Russian ruble posted minor losses against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55) owing to a declining appetite for risk.
The dollar slipped by 1.25 kopecks to close 28.6582 rubles/$1 while the euro increased by 17.5 kopecks to finish at 40.115 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket went increased to 33.89 rubles but slowed its gains and closed at 33.81 rubles, which is seven kopecks above its Wednesday close.
The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on MICEX went down by 0.28 kopecks to 28.6754 rubles/$1 in Today deals and 1.17 kopecks to 28.6676 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on MICEX amounted to $4.731 billion; of which $1.258 billion were Today deals and $3.743 billion were Tomorrow deals.
The euro's average weighted rate went up by 4.33 kopecks to 40.1021 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 9.19 kopecks to 40.1217 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined euro trading amounted to 317.7 million euro, of which 103.9 million euro were Today deals and 213.8 million euro were Tomorrow deals.
The overnight MosPrime Rate held at 3.16% for the day.
