Russian stock market posts gains on Thur led by Sberbank
MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Russia's stock market posted gains on Thursday thanks to positive external market trends and oil prices. The main advancer for the day was Sberbank .
Benchmark stocks on the RTS Index increased by 1.55% to 2,027.89 points and on the MICEX - 1.4% to 1,795.4 points.
The main advancer on the MICEX for the day was Sberbank with common shares going up by 4% to 105.09 rubles and prefs - 2.6% to 72.82 rubles.
Other advancers for Thursday were shares in VTB , up 2.2%, Gazprom - 0.4%, MMC Norilsk Nickel - 0.8%, Lukoil - 1.7%, Rosneft - 1.6%, Surgutneftegas - 0.2%, Tatneft - 0.4% and Rostelecom - 0.2%
The main decliners for the day were Gazprom Neft , down 0.6% and FGC UES - 0.7%.
Posting gains among second tier stocks on the MICEX were Pharmacy Chain 36.6 , up 8.2%, O2TV - 5.7%, Mosenergosbyt - 5.1%, IDGC Center and Volga - 4.5%, Mechel - 4.2% and Volgatelecom - 3.2%.
Posting losses were OGK-3 , down 1.3%, Aeroflot - 1.1%, RTM - 0.5% and TGK-13 - 0.4%.
Total RTS Classic Trading for the day came to $10.59 million, RTS Standard deals - $449.66 million and MICEX trades- over 86.784 billion rubles.
