Dollar moves upward, euro declines on MICEX on Mon

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted steady gains on the MICEX on Monday as the euro declined following its trend on the international forex market. At the same time, the Russian ruble went practically unchanged against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55).

The dollar increased by 8.49 kopecks to close at 28.3899 rubles/$1 while the euro slipped by 9.49 kopecks to finish at 39.9 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar reached 28.44 rubles/$1 during the first 15 minutes of rate but later declined owing to decreased demand for forex on the domestic market.

The dollar's average weighted exchange rate on MICEX went up by 14.59 kopecks to 28.3898 rubles/$1 in Today deals and 13.01 kopecks to 29.3938 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined dollar trading on MICEX amounted to $4.36 billion; of which $1.192 billion were Today deals and $3.168 billion were Tomorrow deals.

The euro's average weighted rate went down by 7.93 kopecks to 39.9346 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and 11.08 kopecks to 39.9081 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Combined euro trading amounted to 378.1 million euro, of which 94.373 million euro were Today deals and 284.237 million euro were Tomorrow deals.

The overnight MosPrime Rate came to 3.16% unchanged for the day. The rate has held at this position since March 14.
