Kazakh external debt grew by 5.3% in 2010 - National Bank
ALMATY. March 31. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Kazakhstan's gross external debt rose 5l.3% to $119.2 billion by the end of 2010 compared to $113.2 billion by the end of 2009, the National Bank says.
Short-term debt decreased 12.6% to $9 billion, but long-term debt increased 7% to $110.2 billion.
According to the National Bank, the share of the public and publicly guaranteed debt in the total gross external debt volume rose 4.3% (to $5.1 billion) by the end of 2010 against 3.3% ($3.7 billion) at the beginning of last year.
Banking sector liabilities in Kazakhstan in 2010 were reduced by $10 billion and came to $20 billion.
