Russian oil companies drill 3.6% more exploratory wells in Jan-Feb
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Russian oil companies drilled 84,500 meters of exploratory well in the first two months of this year, 3.6% more than they did in the same months last year.
According to Fuel and Energy Dispatch Center (TsDU TEK) figures, there was 21.7% more production well drilled in Jan-Feb - 2.552 million meters in all.
Surgutneftegas drilled 35,300 meters of exploratory (up 28.4% year-on-year) and 622,700 meters of production well (up 18.9%) during the two months.
Lukoil drilled 23,800 meters of exploratory (up 24%) and 354,200 meters of production well (up 4.1%).
Rosneft drilled 490% more exploratory well - 4,700 meters in all, and 26.3% more production well - 463,000 meters.
TNK-BP Holding did half as much exploratory drilling (7,300 meters in all) in Jan-Feb this year as it did a year earlier, and Gazprom Neft 28.9% less (2,700 meters). But the former drilled 271,200 meters of production well (up 51.9%) and the later 341,000 meters (up 23.2%).
