Ukraine keeps annuity rate for gas unchanged in March

KYIV. April 6 (Interfax) - The adjusted rate for calculating annuity payments for the production of natural gas in Ukraine for March 2011 came to1.4654, which is the same level as February, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine said on its website.

The price for Russian natural gas imported by national company Naftogaz Ukrainy to Ukraine increased to $264 for 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter of 2011 from $252 for the fourth quarter of 2010.

Ukraine's Upper Rada tied annuity payments for domestic gas output to the price of its import and solidified this in law. According to legislation, the annuity payment for natural gas, including oil [associated gas], is regularly indexed in relation to the average customs value of imported gas with a base price of $179.5 per 1,000 cubic meters.
