China Mobile to spend $2.44 bln on Xi'an wireless networks
Shanghai. April 13. INTERFAX-CHINA - China Mobile Communications Corp. (China Mobile) announced April 13 that it intends to spend RMB 16 billion ($2.44 billion) for additional wireless networks in Shaanxi Province's Xi'an City over the next five years.
China Mobile will construct second and third generation (2G and 3G) mobile networks, as well as wireless local access networks (WLAN), according to the announcement.
The state-owned operator will also help the city government test Internet of Things applications, the announcement added, without elaborating.
Meanwhile, China Mobile plans to invest RMB 10 billion ($1.53 billion) in the next five years on building wireless networks across Sichuan Province, the Sichuan Daily newspaper reported April 8.
