Ukraine ups iron ore exports 8%, imports plummet 63% in Q1
KYIV. April 13 (Interfax) - Ukraine boosted iron ore exports 8% year-on-year in Q1 2011 to 8.149 million tonnes, the Dnipropetrovsk-based Ukrrudprom association told Interfax.
Iron ore concentrate exports grew 5.4% to 3.421 million tonnes, sintering ore - 39.1% to 1.84 million tonnes and pellets - 11.8% to 2.838 million tonnes. Sinter exports fell 88.4% to 50,800 tonnes.
Iron ore imports plummeted 62.8% to 326,500 tonnes: concentrate imports fell 89.7% to 64,200 tonnes and sinter ore - 4.4% to 200,700 tonnes, but pellet imports rose 28.6% to 61,600 tonnes.
