Rosatom: Belarus should use IAEA's help to reach agreement with Lithuania

MINSK. April 22 (Interfax) - Belarus ought to use IAEA mechanisms in order to secure an agreement with Lithuania concerning construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus, the head of programming at Russian state corporation Rosatom, Sergei Boyarkin, said.

"I have been working on the Baltic nuclear power plant since 2006 and we, under environmental impact procedures, have held consultations with Germany and Latvia. We sent an official note to the foreign ministry and invited Lithuania to consultations on three separate occasions. I believe that with the help of the IAEA we will compel the Lithuanian side to arrive at an agreement. You should use the same mechanism," Boyarkin said at a press conference in Minsk on Friday.
