Uzbek banks boost assets 10.5% in Q1 2011

TASHKENT. April 25 (Interfax) - Commercial banks in Uzbekistan boosted their assets 10.5% in Q1 2011 to 22.925 trillion sum, the Central Bank said in a press release.

The loan portfolio grew 12.5% to 12.986 trillion sum, and retail deposits grew 17.8% to 5.237 trillion sum (1,689.23 sum/$1 on April 25).

The sector's equity grew 10.3% during Q1 to 4.528 trillion sum.

Uzbekistan has 32 banks, of which three are state-owned and five are partly foreign-owned.
