Rusal Krasnoyarsk to boost alloy output 15% in 2011

MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - Aluminum giant UC Rusal's Krasnoyarsk smelter will boost alloy output 15% this year to 269,000 tonnes, the director of Rusal East, Vladimir Polin, said during a video conference-call.

The smelter will achieve this by improving the organization of work and modernizing some capacity.

Reports have said the Krasnoyarsk smelter will increase production of existing alloys and start producing new alloys. It intends to increase alloy production for LED displays and lithographic ingots, with Samsung, Kodak, Fuji and Aqua among potential clients.

Rusal Krasnoyarsk sold 48,400 alloys for aluminum beverage cans that can also be used to produce LED displays in 2010, and aims to raise output of these alloys to 64,160 tonnes in 2011. As for the lithographic alloys, which are used for offset printing, output of these could run to 50,000 tonnes per year.

The Krasnoyarsk smelter, build in 1964, produces 27% of Russia's and 3% of the world's aluminum.
