Shandong consumes 89.74 GWh of electricity in Q1
Shanghai. April 26. INTERFAX-CHINA - Eastern China's Shandong Province consumed 89.74 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity in the first quarter (Q1) of the year, up 14.42 percent year-on-year, according to statistics released by the Shandong Electric Power Corp. (SEPC) April 26.
Shandong purchased 9.13 GWh of electricity from outside the province in Q1, up 175.94 percent year-on-year, said SEPC.
Meanwhile, the company warned of potential power shortages in Shandong in the coming peak summer consumption season. The company urged thermal power plants in Shandong to increase coal inventories in preparation for the peak season.
Shandong is only able to produce 30 percent of its required thermal coal. The remaining 70 percent is purchased outside the province, the Shandong government said in January this year.
