Truck maker Kamaz boosts sales 45% in 4 mths
KAZAN. May 3 (Interfax) - Kamaz sold around 14,000 trucks, chassis and assembly kits in January-April 2011, 45% more than in the same period of last year, the company said.
Sales for the period represented one-third of the annual production target.
Kamaz produced 4,040 kits in April.
"KamAZ surpassed its current production plan for all of its main product types as of the end of the first four months of this year. The business plans' forecast results for 2011 have been increased by the company's board of directors," KamAZ said.
If the company surpasses its production schedule, shipments of trucks and chassis are directed to the Russian market where, according to KamAZ, the market for specialized construction vehicles is expanding actively. If production falls in line with earlier forecasts, shipments will be designated for export.
KamAZ has started groundwork for August when the majority of the enterprise's personnel will go for a paid corporate vacation as happened last year.
The company said KamAZ's subsidiary, OJSC Kamaz-Diesel, and the joint venture with Cummins, Cummins KAMA, produced and delivered over 15,000 engines and power units (up 33%) to KamAZ and other consumers in January-April (over 4,500 units in April).
"The manufacture and shipment of spare parts for KamAZ's vehicles, as well as production diversification, is also surpassing the updated forecasts of the business plan and current production plans - both for the last month and in total since the start of the year," KamAZ said.
The company's board of directors approved a business plan for this year last week. The sales forecast was increased by 6.9% to 38,300 cars from 35,800 cars.
