China's largest electrolytic manganese production line breaks ground in Hunan
Shanghai. May 4. INTERFAX-CHINA - Construction has begun in Hunan Province on China's largest electrolytic manganese production line, local state media reported May 2.
Based in the Huayuan County Industrial Park, the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the project has a designed annual production capacity of 150,000 tons, according to Hunan Daily. It requires a total expenditure of RMB 1.26 billion ($193.81 million) and is expected to generate RMB 3 billion ($461.45 million) annually.
The project is run by Hunan Dongfang Mining Co. Ltd. (Dongfang Mining), a company established in July 2010 following a merger of eight state-owned manganese firms in Huayuan County. It is primarily involved in manganese mining and refining, the trade of manganese product and research and development (RD).
Construction on the project is divided into three phases, each with a designed annual production capacity of 50,000 tons, a Dongfang Mining employee told Interfax under the condition of anonymity. The first phase is due for completion this year, while the whole project will likely be finished at the end of 2014, the employee added.
