Dollar ends MICEX trading day at 3-yr low
MOSCOW. May 4 (Interfax) - The dollar's slide on the MICEX had picked up steam by the end of trading Wednesday, hitting a 2008 low amid a new wave of euro gains on the Forex market, and the ruble rose against the bicurrency basket for the seventh day in a row.
The dollar closed at 27.1699 rubles/$1, having lost 19.01 kopecks from Tuesday close. The euro ended the day at 40.555 rubles/EUR1, up 3.41 kopecks.
The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) dropped as low as 33.16 rubles during the day after rising a bit early on, and closed down 9 kopecks at 33.19 rubles.
The average weighted dollar rate lost 2.88 kopecks Wednesday to 27.3084 rubles/$1 in MICEX Today and 6.42 kopecks to 27.2845 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Dollar trading volume on the MICEX came to $5.336 billion, with $1.149 billion in Today and $4.188 billion in Tomorrow exchanges.
The average weighted euro rate was up 8.22 kopecks at 40.5776 rubles/EUR1 in Today and 7.25 kopecks at 40.5286 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow trades. MICEX trading volume totaled EUR 330.4 million, with EUR 102.4 million in Today and EUR 228 million in Tomorrow deals.
The overnight MosPrime Rate was 4.04% per annum, having slipped 57 basis points on the day.
