Belarus shows highest Q1 industrial production growth in CIS
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The highest industrial production growth rate in the CIS in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 was registered at 11.8% in Belarus, according to the CIS Inter-state Statistics Committee.
The industrial production growth in January-March 2011 rose in Ukraine by 9.7% on the same period in 2010, in Uzbekistan by 6.2% and in Kazakhstan by 6%.
The industrial production rate in January-March 2011 rose in Russia by 5.9%, in Tajikistan by 5.4%, in Armenia 4.8%, and in Azerbaijan by 0.3%.
Kyrgyzstan's industrial production rate in the first quarter dropped 0.3% year on year.
The CIS Statistics Committee does not have the first quarter industrial production growth data for Turkmenistan and Moldova.
The highest annual inflation in the first quarter among the CIS countries was registered in Kyrgyzstan at 20.3% against the first quarter of 2010. Belarus saw its prices soar by 12.5%, Tajikistan by 12.1%, and Armenia by 11.1%.
The annual inflation in January-March 2011 in Russia was 9.5%, in Azerbaijan 9.1%, in Kazakhstan 8.5%, in Ukraine 7.7%, and in Moldova 6.1%.
The average CIS industrial production rate in January-March rose 7%, cargo shipping rates by 4.7%, retail trade by 2.7%; fixed capital investment fell by 5%.
