Ukraine boosts electricity output by 4.1% in Jan-Apr
KYIV. May 10 (Interfax) - Production of electricity in Ukraine's unified power system increased by 4.1% year-on-year to 68.564 billion kilowatt hours in January-April 2011, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry told Interfax.
Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPP) increased electricity output by 2.8% to 30.414 billion kilowatt hours, combined heat and power plans and heat electricity station - 9.9% to 30.489 billion kilowatt hours, communal and block stations - 6.4% to 3.309 billion kilowatt hours while hydroelectric stations reduced output by 20.1% to 4.349 billion kilowatt hours.
Nuclear facilities accounted for 44.4% of electricity output (in January-April 2010 - 44.9%), CHPs and heat electricity stations - 44.5% (42.1%).
Production of electricity in Ukraine went up by 5% year-on-year to 15.183 billion kilowatt hours in April.
Electricity consumption in Ukraine, including technical losses on grids, went up by 3.8% year-on-year to 66.988 billion kilowatt hours. Electricity consumption, excluding technical grid losses, increased by 4.9% to 53.795 billion kilowatt hours.
Ukrainian industry, not including technical losses, increased electricity consumption by 3.1% to 24.664 billion kilowatt hours, households - 6.8% to 14.684 billion kilowatt hours. Industry accounted for 45.8% of electricity consumption, down from 46.7% in January-April 2010 where the consumption share of households went up by from 26.8% to 27.3%.
