Fujian expands power sales to State Grid Corp for east China
Shanghai. May 16. INTERFAX-CHINA - Southeast China's Fujian Province expanded power sales to State Grid Corp. of China's (State Grid) east power grid, according to statistics released by Fujian Electric Power Co. Ltd. (FEPC) May 15.
As of May 10, Fujian sold 2.34 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity to State Grid for allocation to their eastern power grid, which covers Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Fujian Provinces, as well as Shanghai Municipality, marking a 66.96 percent increase over the same period last year, according to the statistics.
The increase in sales was attributed to helping ease power shortages in eastern China, in particular Zhejiang Province, FEPC said.
Rich in both hydro and wind power resources, Fujian has 34.80 gigawatts (GW) of aggregate installed capacity, most of which is thermal, accounting for 22.88 GW. In addition, the province houses 11.10 GW of hydropower installed capacity, as well as .82 GW of wind and other renewable energy installed capacity, according to the FEPC statistics.
By 2015, Fujian will house seven nuclear reactors with a combined installed capacity of 7.61 GW, FEPC added.
