Kazatomprom boosts earnings 45% in 2010

ALMATY. May 19 (Interfax) - Kazatomprom boosted net profit to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) 45% to 59.938 billion tenge in 2010, Kazakhstan's national nuclear corporation said.

Revenue grew 29.4% to 230.039 billion tenge, gross profit fell 3% to 63.98 billion tenge and profit before tax increased by 36.2% to 73.7 billion tenge (145.6 tenge/$1 on May 19).

The company's assets grew 36.5% to 528.537 billion tenge, liabilities rose by 70% to 249.117 billion tenge, equity capital went up 14.4% to 279.420 billion tenge and registered capital remained unchanged at 36.7 billion tenge.

Kazatomprom is Kazakhstan's national operator for exports of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear power plant fuel, special equipment, technologies and dual-use materials. The main activities of the company are: geological exploration, uranium production, manufacture of nuclear fuel cycle products, reactor construction, nuclear power plants, non-ferrous metallurgy and production of construction materials, electric energy sector, science, social welfare and staff training.
