Launch of South, Nord Streams won't make use of Ukrainian GTS less topical - PM Azarov

KYIV. May 27 (Interfax) - The launch of bypass gas pipelines does not reduce the need to use the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS) for natural gas deliveries to Europe, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"Due to the rise in EU demand for gas, the importance and modernization of our gas transport system is not becoming less topical. Of course, the two bypassing routes [South and Nord Streams] will increase Russia's independence from the point of view of gas deliveries, but it will still need to use our gas transport system," he told the press on Friday.
