ECHR compels Russia to pay around 25,000 euro to Khodorkovsky

STRASBOURG. May 31 (Interfax) - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) resolved on Tuesday that Russia must pay 10,000 euro in damages and 14,543 euro in legal fees to Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Although the Khodorkovsky case might have raised certain suspicions about the real intentions of the Russian authorities, which could consist of prosecuting him, the claim about the political motivation of the criminal prosecution required irrefutable evidence that was not submitted, the court said.

At the same time, the court found that Khodorkovsky was held in custody after August 8, 2005, in violation of his human rights.
