Dollar down, euro up in first MICEX trading Weds
MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - The dollar slipped but the euro gained some as the European currency continued to rise on the Forex market, and the ruble picked up a little ground against the bicurrency basket.
Initial dollar trading on the MICEX was in the 27.89-27.92 rubles/$1 range, 8-10 kopecks under Tuesday close and the official exchange rate for the day.
Euro trading started off at 40.3 rubles/EUR1, 2 kopecks higher than Tuesday close and 6 kopecks over the day's official exchange rate.
The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) slipped about 3 kopecks to 33.48 rubles. Interfax Center for Economic Analysis experts attribute this to hopes for improvement on world capital markets.
