IMF mission to discuss Belarusian loan request in Minsk
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - A sub-program mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will discuss the Belarusian request for a new loan with the Belarusian authorities, IMF Resident Representative in Belarus Natalia Kolyadina told Interfax.
"The mission will discuss a possible response to the loan request with the authorities," she noted.
The sub-program monitoring mission is visiting Belarus from June 1 to 13.
"The mission will discuss economic policies, which will restore economic stability in Belarus and ensure a higher and more sustainable economic growth," she said.
Kolyadina reaffirmed that the IMF "had received the Belarusian request for financial assistance."
She did not say when the IMF Board of Directors might discuss the request, how large the loan might be and when it might be granted.
The Belarusian government and the National Bank asked the IMF on May 31 for granting the loan for the fulfillment of the reform program. Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said they had asked for $3.5 billion to $8 billion for the period from three to five years.
