China's Vice Premier tours Russian energy sites (repeat)

Moscow. June 1. INTERFAX - China's Vice Premier Wang Qishan and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko toured energy sites in Russia's Udmurt Republic (Udmurtia) June 1, a representative of Russia's Energy Ministry told Interfax.

Rosneft President Eduard Khudainatov also attended the tour.

Udmurtneft, a firm joint-owned by Rosneft and China Petrochemical Corp. (Sinopec Group), is the republic's largest oil producer, accounting for 60 percent of output.

Wang Qishan attended the latest round of the Sino-Russian energy dialog in Moscow on May 30, the venue for negotiations between Rosneft, Transneft and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) to resolve disagreements over the price of Russian crude oil deliveries to China.

Rosneft and CNPC have previously considered joint operations on the shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk near the port town of Magadan in the Russian Far East, and Rosneft said it is considering developing the block with Japanese companies in light of its disagreements with Chinese firms.

Rosneft and Transneft may begin court proceedings against China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) for underpayment of oil supplies within three weeks, a source close to the Russian Energy Ministry told Interfax May 25.

Rosneft and CNPC are joint owners of Vostok Energy, which is developing several blocks in the Irkutsk region in Siberia. The sides had previously agreed to expand the venture, which currently includes several small- and medium-sized fields in Eastern Siberia.
