Russia ups meat imports, cuts fish in 4 mths
MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Russia imported 351,000 tonnes of meat for $1.2 billion in January-April, up from 313,300 tonnes ($992 million) in the same period of last year, the Federal Customs Service (FCS) said.
Poultry imports rose to 74,300 tonnes ($101.6 million) from 70,900 tonnes, almost all of them (74,200 tonnes) from non-CIS countries.
Fish imports fell to 239,500 tonnes ($596.3 million) from 321,100 tonnes ($545.6 million); milk and condensed cream to 18,100 tonnes ($56.4 million) from 23,800 tonnes ($73.1 million); and butter to 33,200 tonnes ($122.3 million) from 23,800 tonnes ($73.7 million).
Sunflower oil imports soared 5.2-fold to 74,000 tonnes ($98.3 million) from 14,100 tonnes ($13.9 million).
Corn imports jumped to 78,800 tonnes ($77 million).
Citrus fruit imports rose to 687,100 tonnes ($658.2 million) from 585,600 tonnes ($487.5 million).
Raw cane sugar imports grew to 960,000 tonnes ($763.1 million) from 385,500 tonnes ($251.4 million), and granulated sugar imports to 20,300 tonnes ($18.5 million) from 17,900 tonnes ($12 million).
