Several thousand industrial firms in Anhui Province face summer power cuts

Shanghai. June 7. INTERFAX-CHINA - Some 2,352 energy intensive industrial firms in eastern China's Anhui Province will have limited power supplies this summer, the Anhui provincial government advised June 7.

With 21 gigawatts (GW) of aggregate operational installed capacity, Anhui is expected to have a power shortfall of up to 2.5 GW during the summer peak consumption period, said the provincial government.

To insure power supplies to residences, as well as government buildings, hospitals, schools and military bases, power to some industrial firms, which range from automobile manufacturing to chemical production, will be limited during the summer, the government added.

On June 2, the National Development and Reform Commission ensured residential power supplies would be maintained despite shortages, Interfax previously reported.
