Limited electricity supply to Belarus has no political coloring - Shmatko

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Restrictions on electric power supply to Belarus have no political flavor, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko told reporters on Thursday.

"This is an ordinary commercial operation. There are no politics involved," he said.

Belarus was warned about the restricted supply in advance, the minister said, recalling that Inter RAO had cut the supply by 50%.

Belarus is capable of compensating that amount with the production of coal power plants, he said.
