Northeast China's largest thermal power plant ready to begin trial run
Shanghai. June 10. INTERFAX-CHINA -Yanshanhu Thermal Power Plant, based in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, is ready to begin a trial run with its first generator, the municipal government said June 11.
The first phase of the thermal power project will see two 600 megawatts (MW) generators installed, each costing RMB 4.6 billion ($709.88 million) to build. The second generator is scheduled to go on-line in the second half (H2) of the year, said the municipal government.
The second phase of the power plant will add four 1,000 MW generators, each at a cost of RMB 7.6 billion ($1.17 billion). No timetable for the second phase of the power plant was disclosed.
Construction on the Yanshanhu Thermal Power Plant began in December 2009. Owned and operated by leading power producer China Power Investment Corp., the plant will be northeast China's largest thermal power plant once fully operational, the Chaoyang city government said.
