CNPC, KazMunayGas seal technical cooperation deal (repeat)

Astana. June 13. INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN - Kazakhstan's state-owned oil and gas operator KazMunayGas (KMG) and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) signed a technical cooperation agreement June 13, KMG said in a press release.

"Under the framework agreement, the parties are planning to carry out joint projects including the creation of an oil and gas research center in the Almaty Park of Information Technologies, a free economic zone," the press release said.

The companies also agreed to cooperate in the production of state-of-the-art oil and gas equipment at machine building plants in Kazakhstan, and in equipment supply to the new research center, according to the release.

KMG is wholly-owned by the state-owned Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund.
