All Sochi Olympic facilities will be completed on time - Putin

GENEVA. June 15 (Interfax) - Almost 130 Sochi Olympic infrastructure sites have been completed, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge on Wednesday.

"I am certain all facilities will be completed in due time," Putin said.

Of the total 464 sites to be constructed, 127 are already complete and another 214 will be completed by late 2011, Putin said.

In 2012, Sochi will host 74 international sports competitions as a test before the 2014 Olympics, he said.

The gas pipeline across the Black Sea bottom (which will supply 3.8 billion cubic meters of gas) has been completed, Putin said.

Besides, "we are beginning the work on the gas pipeline that will run through the mountain - we have increased its capacity from 1.2 billion to 1.8 billion cubic meters," he said.

"Active efforts are under way to build roads, bridges, tunnels for water supply and disposal and sewage," he added.

"(Russia) is most actively working with experts from the International Olympic Committee," Putin said.

"As recently as May we had six IOC commissions visiting. We are trying to fulfill all of your recommendations, primarily those of an environmental nature," he said.
