Lukashenko says he is not against "drawing" new bills for citizens

MINSK. June 17 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko does not rule out that Belarus will switch to a new national currency some day.

"I think sometimes: Perhaps you don't like these "zaichiki" ["rabbit"] bills?" Lukashenko said at a press conference in Minsk, referring to Belarusian ruble bills with pictures of wild animals. "Let's draw some other bills if a battle like this is going on. Do you need kopeks like Russia? Well, let's introduce kopecks. Why carry millions in you pockets?" he said.

"Although, we could finally come to that, too, some day," Lukashenko said.
