Progressive export duty for copper may be enacted in fall - Econ Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG. June 20 (Interfax) - Russia may enact the progressive export duty on copper this fall, Deputy Economic Development Minister Andrei Slepneft told journalists on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum.

"It may begin to take effect in the fall," he said when asked about the timetable for the progressive export duty.

An agreement on the scale for the export duty is expected within one month, Slepnev said. The parameters for the export duty have been revised downward compared with those discussed at the beginning of the year.

Asked about the possibility of an export duty on aluminum, Slepnev said: "There are no arguments for introducing that. We are not preparing such proposals at present," he said.
