Trade between Ukraine, China could top $10 bln in 2011 - Hu

KYIV. June 20 (Interfax) - Trade between Ukraine and China could exceed $10 billion in 2011, said Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The statement was made by the Chinese leader at a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in Kyiv on Monday, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Vitaliy Lukyanenko told journalists.

"Judging by the dynamics of trade, we will exceed the bar of $10 billion as early as this year," Hu was quoted as saying by Lukyanenko.

At the talks, the Chinese delegation expressed interest in cooperating with Ukraine on space and high technology, he said.

Ukraine is keen to cooperate with China in modernizing and developing ports, the energy sector and agriculture, Azarov said for his part.
