Aeroflot signs firm order for eight Boeing 777

LE BOURGET. June 21 (Interfax) - Aeroflot Russian Airlines has signed a firm order for eight Boeing 777-300ER passenger jets, an Interfax correspondent reported from the contract signing.

Aeroflot General Director Vitaly Savelyev signed the contract together with Boeing Commercial Airplanes chief Jim Albaugh. Delivery of the aircraft will begin in 2013. The Boeing 777-300ER has seats for 380 passengers.

Aeroflot signed a firm order to purchase eight airplanes of that model in March 2011 for $1.156 billion. Delivery of those planes is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Airbus planes currently make up a large portion of Aeroflot's fleet of more than 100 aircraft.
