Christine Lagarde is worthy of heading the IMF - Putin
PARIS. June 21 (Interfax) - French Minister of Finance Christine Lagarde is worthy of heading the International Monetary Fund, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a press conference in Paris on Tuesday.
"Ms. Lagarde is well known in Russia. We have a very high estimation of her personal and business reputation. If a decision in favor of Lagarde heading the IMF is made, we will have a highly competent, modern and level-headed head [of the IMF]," Putin said.
"Ms. Lagarde, without question, is worthy of heading the IMF," he added.
Putin said that it is now necessary to await a final decision on the future IMF head.
